For those who don't know, during my AS, they found a very large ovarian cyst. The specialist they sent me to recommended surgery to remove it due to the fear of it twisting on its own and killing my ovary.
I had a follow up ultrasound yesterday to confirm things and the cyst was still there, large as ever.
The specialist just called me to tell me that after looking at my latest ultrasound, she is NOT recommending surgery anymore. Apparently the baby is pushing my ovary up against my other organs to the point where it is very unlikely it will twist because there is no room. Now, the risk of preterm labour due to my having the surgery is greater than the risk of it twisting, so she wants to wait until after the baby is born to remove it.
I have to say, I'm relieved. I still hate the thoughts of surgery, but I was really concerned about having it done while pregnant.
Thanks for all the good thoughts sent my way. I really appreciate them. The ladies on this board really are the best.
I'm glad you don't have to deal with the surgery while pregnant, I'm sure that's a load off your mind. How long after baby is here will they remove it?
Not to get you any more concerned, but have they discussed side effects/pain of the cyst/ovary to watch out for? If not, I would ask them - just to be safe & to know what would be considered abnormal in this scenario.

@emoxymoose I'm not sure. I have an another appointment with her in two weeks, so I'll ask then. She called me quickly this morning because she knew we were heading out of town for a wedding this weekend.
@KMW08 she drilled me with the symptoms when I met with her previously. I guess it is intense, intense pain with vomiting. She told me it is often confused with appendicitis, so if it does happen, to be sure to tell whoever I see that I have a cyst.
