Last night I pysched myself up to take my big, terrible, veterinary-grade looking Pregnyl shot (mixed it up, perched on the toilet, swabbed myself with alcohol, and made DH stand there for moral support) and was all ready to inject it when I noticed what looked like air bubbles. Since I'm neither a medical professional nor an IV drug user, my syringe-craft is pretty basic. I pushed the plunger to get rid of them, until I noticed that liquid was leaking out the cap. Then, I frantically tried to suck it back in, air bubbles or not, and jammed it in my thigh (which hurts and looks kind of gruesome this morning. Awesome).
Anyway, I have absolutely no idea how many of the 10,000 units of HCG are actually in my system now. The RE says that as long as I got 5,000, we should proceed with the IUI tomorrow morning. Depending on the answer to a question about insurance I'm waiting on, I suppose I will regardless.
This morning, because I couldn't think of anything else to do, I took an opk and a (cheap, not very sensitive) hpt. The opk is positive or almost positive (and I was stimming with Follistim, so there shouldn't be artificial LH in my system mucking things up). The hpt is also positive, but very faint. For those of you who have tested out triggers, what did the hpt look like? Do you think a faint line indicates that there's enough in my system to do the job, or should it be stronger?
The Internet has been no help with this, btw. Usually when you google a problem, at least you can see that there are lots of other people in the same boat. I came across exactly one woman who had done this, and her RE told her it was the first time he'd seen it in 20 years. Excellent. Not feeling stupid at all. ">

You poor thing!! I was a hot mess when I first started using injectables. I'm sure I've spilled plenty of meds during the course of using them. And, I've especially struggled with dosing.
I've never tested with a hpt before my IUI. I have used digital opks, and I usually get positives two days in a row.
If your doctor is confident, you should be too. Especially b/c you did get a positive. Go for it!!!
Big hugs and good vibes being sent your way...

I wouldn't worry too much, I never tested the day after I usually tested 2 days after shot and could see a line, but I have always held firm to the belief that if so many of us are doing this, the medical profession has taken into account accidents, if it was life or death we wouldn't be injecting ourselves ( I would like to believe!) Also I think someone told me not to worry too much about bubbles (of course try to get rid of them) but its going into the muscle.....
