One is a family name and the other is just on our short list. We want something different but not too weird. I tend to like more traditional names but DH not so much!!
Harlow: Sounds like harlot. It's ugly. I would say it gets the edge because of at least being a real name, but no, no, there are enough real names in the world to where there is no reason to be stuck between two terrible choices.
Also wondering this. I don't love Holland for a girl, but I cut a lot more slack for family names, and Holly is great. I dislike Harlow for a girl; it has never sounded remotely feminine to me and I don't get why so many people think it's great.

Thanks for all of the opinions! Holland is in fact a family name on my husband's side. We're not completely tied to it, but I'm not ready to let it go yet. The Harlow/Harlot comments were somewhat expected and had crossed my mind as well. I think I'll be leaving Holland (Holly) on our list and coming up with few others!
Re: Thoughts on girl names and a poll!!
Holly is fine though.

I voted for Holland nn Holly. It's much more classy. Harlow sounds trendy. Or maybe it reminds me too much of Harper.
