Dr Brown bottle users!

How the hell do you clean them?! I curse every time- the blue tube is a pain in the ass and so is the tube caps! I try using the bottle brushes but they don't fit in! I use QTips to clean the tubes and caps- anyone have a way of doing it that's easier?

Boiling hot water. I agree the parts are annoying but they are so worth it. They also come with that little brush. Have you tried using that?

The little tiny brush that came with the set fits well for me. And I got their brand of bigger brush for the bottle itself too. It was cheap on Amazon as were extras if the tiny brushes. I've only used bottles a couple times so far though - will probably be joining you in cursing the extra small parts as soon ad I'm back to work!

I just use really hot soapy water and the tiny brush that came with them. I use a regular bottle brush for the bottle part.

I also bought the bigger dr browns brush for the bottles, which helps with the caps.

Ha! My mother in law gave us the bottles and there was no little brush! Guess that's why it's more of a pain in the ass for me!

They sell the little brushes at BRU and BuyBuyBaby. Love those Dr Browns. I wash and steam sterilize.

As others have said, I use the little brush when hand washing them, and they go in the dishwasher (I have a little parts basket I bought at BRU) a few times a week on the sanitize mode (we don't fill our dishwasher every day with just my husband and me, so they only get washed in the dishwasher when it's full).

This is exactly what I do!

Also just a suggestion, keep the little brushes (or buy a set down the road) because they are perfect for cleaning straws in sippy cups. :)

I use the little brush too. And my bottle brush fits in the blue tube (the bigger part of the tube)

The dishwasher. The sell baskets where all of those parts fit in nicely and I hardly ever hand wash them. When I do, I use the brushes (small and big) but it's a total PITA.

Major PITA. I hand wash them because my dishwasher takes forever!

So this is a newb question but how often do you need to sterilize bottles? Just the first time, or regularly? What if you only use them every once in a while?

Call me crazy but I don't sterilize. I just wash with warm water very thoroughly. But if I were to, I would probably do it maybe 1x/week.

I used hot soapy water and the big and little brushes. I also have the dr. Brown sanitizer so I sanitize everytime because it only takes 5mins in the microwave. I have a little bottle cleaning routine.

Am I a bad mom for not using bottle brushes? I feed pumped bm in a bottle maybe once a week and when I wash the bottle I fill a bowl with hot soapy water, let the bottle sit for a bit, then shake the hot soapy water in it and rinse. Am I the only one NOT using bottle brushes?

All the parts are a PITA, true, but our LO does so much better with them it's worth it. To make my life easier, I have a big bowl of soapy water I put all the parts in after every feeding, and then assembly-line wash them in really hot soapy water once or twice a day. The tiny brush that comes with them is really helpful too. I'll join the bad mama's club and admit I don't sanitize.

We put them in a dishwasher basket

Dishwasher basket. We don't do a bottle every day so they are usually clean when I need them. When we visited the inlaws and didn't bring the basket, I used hot water and soap the best I could.

Dishwasher. I wouldn't use Dr. Browns if I had to hand wash all those damn parts.

My dishwasher basket has straw holders (munchkin), so I put the blue part in that, and the other parts in the basket-- works great!

I've put them in the dishwasher at first and than the tube lids were coming out with black stuff inside. I also noticed it in some of the blue tubes. I fill the bottles up with hot soapy water and put the tubes back in and the nipples on and let them sit for awhile. I fill up a bowl with hot soapy water after I fill up the bottles and let them sit but I still notice I get the black stuff so I use a QTips to clean them. She's not bottle picky- we have dr brown, tommee tippee bottles and one avent.
