All classes you can take are for the most part good to have in your toolbox. Remember that YOUR L&D is going to be unique to you and baby, having a variety of methods at your disposal is incredibly helpful, but the most important one is just listening to your body/self and doing what you need in that moment to get to the next contraction to birth your baby. All methods are about relaxation and letting your body's instincts do its job. As a general rule, for your first time, if you can swing the class, take it! Also when you go on the tour of the L&D unit - do not be afraid to ask the nurses real world questions because they're there to help make things as easy as possible for you.
The only class that wasn't worth it for us was the birthing class that was offered through our hospital because the instructor was crunchy and almost all of our class had science based degrees/careers so found her lacking of ability to objectively discuss pain control methods (not just natural but medicated) pre and post partum was a bit angering...
