This will be our first baby so I'm new to everything. We are currently stationed at Jber so if anyone has experience with giving birth on base here and can offer tips or insight on doctors, etc. it would be much appreciated! Thanks!
DS1 was born there almost 6 years ago so I would guess it has changed somewhat. I received all of my prenatal care at the hospital but delivered off base at Providence in Anchorage due to PROM at 35 weeks. At the time, and I would also guess it's still the case, they do not have a neonatologist so any babies born early go downtown. As far the the care and facilities, I thought they were great. I was a healthcare provider myself in that hospital and compared to all the other military facilities I have been in, it is top notch. As far as doctors, you just get who you get. Do not get attached to anyone specific provider b/c when you deliver you just get whoever happens to be working that day. That's how it is everywhere at military facilities. You get used to it.
