portable potty seat to daycare?

My DS is showing more and more interest in the potty. I go with the flow and put him on his potty ring when he asks. I know he will eventually start going on the potty at daycare but was wondering, did your daycare provider use one that she has? Or did you bring your own for sanitary reasons? I haven't asked DCP yet but curious about others experiences. This is an in home daycare not a center.

Re: portable potty seat to daycare?

  • I would imagine your DCP would have a potty seat.  I don't see why you would need to bring your own due to sanitary reasons.  A potty seat needs to get cleaned just like a regular toilet seat.  In fact, I hate taking our potty seat places because I feel the need to bleach and disinfect it entirely in order for it to leave the bathroom.  As long as its staying in the bathroom and we're washing hands right after we use it, it doesn't seem as "ick" to me.

We use a center, but they have a tiny regulary potty and a urinal in his room.  All sized appropriately for 2-3 year olds.  My DS loves the urinal.

  • Oh please don't make me haul a portable potty seat to daycare in addition to all the other stuff I lug in to and out of the house every day just to make it through the day.

ha ha I agree. I guess I meant it as in, do I need to bring one to leave there. I guess I cannot imagine her have 2-3 potty seats to rotate.

Our in-home DCP had a potty seat for any PTing kids to use. I'm not understanding why a DCP would need multiple potty seats to rotate. Multiple PTing kids can use the same seat, assuming the provider takes normal care to dump out the pee after each use and wipe down the seat (which I would expect if only one kid was PTing at a time anyway).

  • DS is at an in home. He uses her potty ring. She uses a Clorox wipe on it after each child, as she does with the regular toilet. DS went through a (thankfully short) phase of wanting his potty seat. We lugged it for a week and he moved on. We'd have gotten a second of the same one for home if the phase was longer, because it was annoying to bother with.

Why can't they all share what the DCP already has? If your son were in a center, he'd be sharing a kid-sized toilet with everyone else in his class. Same thing.
Thats what I figured. I guess I was just overthinking it when I posted. lol
