Need some ideas for outfits-NBR

My sister is having her 8th grade promotion/graduation on May. I've never gone to one before, but usually for something like that, I'll wear a nice top, good jeans, and some flats. Is this appropriate to wear or do you ladies think I need to dress a bit more fancy? I've got slacks and a skirt I could wear possibly, but I'm always comfy in nice jeans and maybe a fancy shirt. Thoughts? Tia

That's what people wear to the promotion in my hometown.  Sometimes, people wear khaki capris or something like that.  It isn't as formal as graduation.

That's kind of what I was thinking, but I wasn't really sure.

I think a nice top and pair of jeans is perfectly fine.

Down here in Texas a nice top and dark jeans would be dressy enough for sure.
