So LO is 4 weeks old now. I would say for the past week or so she has started grunting and stretching so bad in her sleep she keeps waking herself up. Or she is trying to wake up by grunting and stretching, I'm not really sure. Like clockwork at night when she starts to wake up for a feeding she will begin doing this, but if I don't get up and pick her up she will likely keep doing this for well over an hour. I can't tell if she is waking up or doing this in her sleep. I've also noticed this week she is doing it a lot more and it's almost impossible for her to go down for a nap or sleep her usual longer stretches at night because of this. Is anyone else expierincing this?
Our DS does this all the time!! I think mostly he is trying to pass gas because it's usually followed up by a few toots. Doesn't seem to bother him too much.

Lily has been doing this too as of this past week. She'll be 4 weeks tomorrow. She doesn't do it during naps, but does it during the night. She seems frustrated when she does it, but doesn't really wake all the way up. She's also been grunting when she's nursing lately.
Charlie did this a ton around 4 weeks, too. He still does it occasionally, but not nearly as often. At his 2 week appt the doctor couldn't hear his heartbeat because he was grunting so loudly.
E sounds like a puppy playing tug rope a lot of snorting, grunting and snarling lol. She is so super loud it's crazy. My son was a quiet baby so this is very different for me.
Oh yea! She actually took a nap on my chest today and was so loud and moved so much it was hard for me to fall asleep! And then she woke me up doing the same thing. I normally swaddle her when she sleeps so that she doesn't jolt herself awake.
Lo has done this since day 1. She has gotten louder as she's gotten older. Because of this, I have a 60 second rule that I use when she's sleeping. I start counting when she starts making noise. If she's still crying/grunting at 60 I pick her up...usually though she's peacefully sleeping by then.
My LO does this too. Has since birth. Mostly only in her pack n play which is where she sleeps at night. I never know when to actually get her out of it. Sometimes she'll eventually have her eyes open but no crying. So confusing.
J has been doing this lately too. He will be 4 weeks tomorrow, and does it every night now - not during the day though. I am not able to sleep through the sound so I have been finding it very frustrating. He does it whether he is hungry or not. Eta - I think it is gas related.
Isla does this too. She will do it for an hour at night. I have sat there the whole hour trying to figure out if she's sleeping or hunger cueing. It's really cute, but it has stressed me out.

We've had to keep the white noise on to be able to sleep through it. (Once we realized it wasn't a sign of anything bad.)

We keep the fan on at night for white noise, but I am an FTM and every little noise he makes makes me worry – I know I need to let it go, but it is really hard to become a heavier sleeper and sleep through the noises.
Parker is seriously the loudest sleeper I have ever seen! He grunts, whines, chirps, squeals, cries out, snorts, bangs his feet on the bed. It's crazy!! We had to move him out of our room because it was keeping me up. Then I had he monitor up loud once we moved him to his crib and even that kept me up. Now we have the video part on but just leave the noise almost off...his room is close enough that I hear him when he really cries to get up anyway.
Yep, our booger bear has been doing this for a few days now. He was 4 weeks yesterday. He doesn't do it as much during the day, mainly at night. I also think it's gas related, but if it wakes me up, I usually go ahead and make a bottle as I know he'll be waking up soon enough anyway. This newest thing is screaming as soon as he wakes up from a nap. He started that today.
We joke that Kinley sounds like a little animal. She's always doing this in her sleep. It took me a few days to realize that I just needed to leave her alone until she started to whine, then I knew she was actually waking up to eat. We've accepted that she's is just a really noisy sleeper.
This is Addie. She will grunt for an hour. Sometimes I'll just reach into the crib and put a hand on her chest. Sometimes that's all it takes for her to pass back out. I won't pick her up until she starts whining or crying.
Yea my dd does this sometimes for an hour usually before her second wake up around five am. It used to keep me up but now I know she is just doing her normal grunting.
Maverick sounds like a little warthog, lol! Anytime he's waking up or if I try to place him in his bassinet after a feeding & he's fallen asleep. My husband has actually woken from a dead sleep & scolded the dog thinking it was him making the noise. I have to tell him that the dog is in with DD & the animal-like noises are his sweet baby boy.
Oh, yes, this is my LO to a T! Usually it doesn't stop until she has had at least one major poop. Lately there can be three in a row! Try bicycling their legs to move things .
Our LO has done it since day 1. Sounds like an old lady stretching and she arches her whole body. Also she has always woken up screaming as if waking up is the worst thing in the world. Is that not normal?
that actually sounds like reflux, (silent reflux.) you might want to read a bit about that online and ask your doctor.
