Braxton hicks?

Can hb contractions have almost no feeling at all? I am a ftm and don't know what to expect. My doc says that bh Is like the tummy tightens for a few seconds to a min and is hard... I've felt my tummy a couple times today and it was really hard, but I don't feel anything before or after. No pain, no cramping, I don't even feel tightness... Am I supposed to feel something?

I didn't ever feel a thing with my first two. I am actually feeling them this time.

Yes, they can be completely painless. A lot of times you don't even realize you're having them.

Yep, you can have BH you don't really feel. If your whole belly got hard, it was probably a BH.

I think so. I'll get just a tightened spot sometimes that almost fades before I can put my hand on it. Lasts until I drink some water then goes away. How strange!

I never felt any with my first pregnancy. This time I notice the tightening and sometimes it can be a little uncomfortable but that's about it. It's normal to not notice them.

Thanks everyone! I was wondering if I was massaging my baby's hard back or if that was the actual tightening!

Thanks for starting this thread. My stomach has been tightening lately and I've been wondering the same thing. So much so DH has felt the difference between the hard and soft too. I was thinking they were BHs but this confirms they must be.

My bh's never hurt but they do kinda take my breath away. My belly gets tight and I feel like I just need to pause for a second. No biggie.

    1st pregnancy: m/c began 1/12/09 d&c 1/13/09 8wks. Baby stopped growing at about 6wks.

My belly will get tight so that's what I've been assuming is happening. Usually happens if I get up too quickly from sitting or if I have to bend down to pick something up, etc. Definitely no pain and I don't really feel anything else at all except that my belly is tight and hard so it's a little uncomfortable for 30 seconds.
