Lol I know! Unfortunately I can't open the incubator yet because three more eggs have pipped. Once the outer shell is broken, you need to maintain the humidity fanatically or it can kill the ones that are mid hatch (the inner membrane can dry and basically shrink wrap the chick).

@Peledreamsofrain Do you have a farm or something along those lines? I find this fascinating. I've never had any kind of animal other than dogs and a few beta fish. Do you sell them or keep them indefinitely to produce eggs?
I keep only girls so we can have eggs. We try to sell the males, but if we can't, I have processed a few for eating.
Right now we are stuck in suburbia, but we have grand plans to move to a larger property and start an organic poultry business. I can't wait, it's been a dream of mine for years now.
ETA for clarity: these eggs are not from my hens, I bought them from a breeder. No roosters around to make babiez yet .
Hey I had a hellish day! Just checked out your chicks, congratulations Pele! My mom has 6 chickens, she's had them a few years now. They have more personality than I would have expected. Especially the Ameraucanas.

Whew! Hatching continued through the night, and last I looked in, they seem to be done. I have 10 babies! Most of them are dark brown, but two are a cute yellow gray. The seller said she has an Easter Egger (mixed bird that lays colored eggs) who sneaks into the Cream Legbar coop to lay. I guess I got a couple of her sneaky eggs!
Yay pictures! They're all fluffed up. The first three are the little sneaky EE chicks. Whoever the father is, he has feathered legs, so they have little fuzzy legs too :P.
