Potentially really dumb question

I was just wondering.... Considering I'm DOR, but I ovulate on my own (according to tests etc) we pursued ivf for MFI reasons, I'm just wondering if I ovulate on my own what the chances are it's actually a mature egg? Considering it takes a truck load of drugs to get me to get multiple eggs. Does my question make sense? No real reason for my question other than curiosity.

I'm DOR too and still ovulate. I think the egg is mature but cruddy....

Just curious, I always thought before ivf that I ovulated normally, now that I know more about myself I was thinking maybe I ovulate but it's not normal

I have DOR and a good FSH. I went through a natural IVF cycle in which I went about my normal ovulation but still went through ER and my egg made it to a 5 day blast. So it's definitely possible.

I ovulate on my own, but my own eggs are crap because of endo. A different reason, but same idea, I think. I had to take a TON of supplements to help. Basically, I have a lot of really shitty eggs. So, that's not helpful either.

When I ovulate on my own, it's either an early ovulation or late ovulation, or I just get a cyst instead. So on my own, my eggs are either not mature or too mature.

I think your question makes sense and it's worth looking into for sure!

I'm DOR too, and we have unexplained MFI and DH has a BT.  Our next cycle is going to be DS IUI.  My RE has the opinion the better indicator for pregnancy for those with DOR is age, and not reserve. We did IVF with my OE's and I did get a couple of mature eggs.  I think it's possible you can ovulate a mature egg

Perhaps sometimes we have an lh surge but don't actually ovulate. Or we ovulate crappy eggs?

I have totally crappy, immature eggs when I do IVF, and yet when I wasn't doing treatments I ovulated like clockwork. My FF charts were lovely. A doc suggested that (basically like poohniki mentioned) we try some no stim mini IVFs to see what my unmedicated eggs were like. I ultimately decided to go to DE instead, because we found a donor we liked and, even more importantly, if I had been ovulating decent eggs all this time why would I have never gotten KU once in 4 years of trying?! (We don't have mfi or tubal/uterine issues.)

I'm not considered DOR officially because we always had plenty of eggs, but the main issue I had was with maturity of my eggs in all our retrievals (example, our last IVF was 10 mature out of 43 collected) - for us it was the last question mark and the only work around our doc suggested was to stim/coast longer - and I wondered the same thing as you did about how it works "naturally". Especially because I ovulated early, often. I suspect it's possible like a PP said to have over mature or under mature eggs, naturally.

I wonder if we could have gotten more eggs to be mature in our first cycles (retrieved about 20 each time) if we could have gotten a sticky baby sooner... but I don't know, and it's moot now.

We've also got/had other things going on - so it's not the only issue.

I ovulate every month like clockwork.  My RE thinks my eggs are immature ( based on my e2 levels etc...) We tried several different protocols and used Menopur to see if that would help the maturing but it didn't.  We have no male issues.  After 2 years and many failed attempts we moved on to DEIVF.

I totally didn't even think this would be the case.  But it definitely makes sense.  I think I assumed since I'm only 30 that I still was ovulating good eggs?
