Fert Report Update

For those of you that are following along on my journey, I just wanted to give an update.  I had my ER on Wednesday and they retrieved 7 eggs.  I got the fert report today and sadly only 2 of the 7 eggs have fertilized.  Because this is such a low number we are definitely going to freeze the two that made it and will proceed with another retrieval to get more embryos before doing any PGD testing.  It saves us $$ to batch cycle results together instead of sending them each time we retrieve, so yay for saving money. 

At first I was quite upset to hear such a low number, but then I brushed myself off and said I'm ready, bring it IVF #3. I realized that the 5 that didn't make it to fertilization have no determination on the success of the two that did. Just like a snowflake each one is completely unique and their viability only lies within itself.  One or both of them could become my take home baby and I will focus on that rather than the 5 that will never be.

I'm sorry more of the eggs didn't fertilize. Hugs. I think you're right, though, that the two that did have a great chance!

Yes I agree with the PPs. Your attitude is terrific. I think another cycle would be great, and two is still a good number, in my opinion.

After all the support that we give one another I learned/realized something very important recently, you know an aha moment.  It occured to me that the same supportive and uplifting words I was telling everyone on here on a daily basis were the same supportive and uplifting thoughts I needed to have within myself for myself.  So, that is where the great attitude comes from.  First and foremost, it is most important that we think and treat ourselves in the most positive way possible.

@PrivateOne Reading about the journey you've been on really puts things in perspective when I want to pout and be impatient because there's no script and no guarantees like in the movies.  You and the other ladies are real people!  And I love how mature the women on this board.  I've visited some other boards and this one is the most zen, warm and very respectful.  Perhaps it has to do with the age range.  But I'm glad people like you are so open.  Thanks for sharing.
