Hey everyone,
I've been lurking for awhile to try to understand the rules and I think I may understand now so I wanted to introduce myself. My husband and I have been together for 6 and a half years and in February, I found out I was pregnant, just in time for him to start the fire academy. We were overjoyed until a few weeks later when I started spotting and then, another week later, started bleeding heavily. Despite the bleeding, my hcg levels weren't dropping (nor were they going up) so my doctor told me I needed the methotrexate shot because I might have an ectopic pregnancy.
Long story short, my doctor was horrendous, gave me minimal to no information throughout the whole "ordeal" and I was lucky if she even called me back when I called with a question. Luckily, I have since gotten a new doctor and have been very happy with him.
My husband and I have been cleared by my new doctor to start trying again. I've noticed that many of you suggest charting your BBT and CM. I work 12 hour swing shift so getting my BBT at the same time every day is impossible... sometimes I'm just getting into bed at 7am and sometimes I'm just getting up. Have any of you ever dealt with this? Would I still get a relevant reading if I take my temp right when I wake up even though sometimes it'll be in the morning and sometimes in the evening?
I appreciate all your insight and I hope I can offer something valuable to this community.

BBT and shift work
How can I chart my BBT if I work shifts?
It is not impossible to take your BBT if you work shifts, but it will be more challenging. Take your temperature at the time you wake up when you are most likely to have had the most sleep. Be as consistent as you can. On your days off, take your temperature after you wake up as well, even if it is at a different time. Make a note on your chart of changes in your waking schedule. You may take your temperature in the afternoon before you go to work if that is your usual waking time and the time after which you are most likely to have had the most sleep. It is not useful to take your temperature when you are already awake and active.

Did your new doctor talk with you about how you need to TTA a minimum of 3 months (I believe) after a methotrexate shot? MTX is a chemo drug that depletes your body of folic acid. You need to get your folic acid levels back up prior to TTCing again.

@Snegde and @Buggirl72 - I had the MTX shot on 3/12 and they followed my levels down to 0 (3/31) My doctor did a lot of blood work after that (I didn't ask what he was checking exactly but he told me it was to make sure everything was OK after the shot) and said that I was fine to start ttc right away. I asked him about the depletion of folic acid and he told me that the amount of MTX that I had was low enough that it was fine to start ttc right away.
Thank you for the welcome and the advice on temping ladies, I really appreciate it.

***Loss mentioned***
I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm gad you got a new doctor though. There's nothing worse than having a doctor with poor bedside mannors. I had that experience with my loss over the phone when everything was happening. I was not happy and glad I had a choice of doctors to see the next day. I hope this new one is a lot nicer/better for you.

we work 12 hours shifts so for two weeks I work 7a-7p then the next two weeks ill work 7p-7a (2 days on, 2 days off) so its a really crazy schedule. Thank you for the advice, I think I'm going to try OPK's as well as charting and see how it works out.
Thank you for the welcome ladies, from what I've been reading you all seem like a very supportive group.
