Re: Ben and Jerry's Poll

  • I got a pint as a treat for while DH is on a business trip.  He left Sunday night.  He's still gone, and so is my ice cream.  Technically, it took 3 days instead of 2, but that's because I had a piece of cheesecake instead last night.   ;)
  • I'm not a huge fan of ice cream, so it could easily sit in my freezer for a month. I just had a pint last week that took me about a full week to finish.

  • I got the hazelnut core a month or two ago (need to get it again soon) and I must have gone in the freezer 5 or 6 times within a 2 day span, stealing spoonfuls. If i would've sat down with it the boys would've eaten half and that wouldn't fly...

  • I really miss their mini ice cream. I used to get them during my lunch break at Target, but they stopped selling them and other brands as well.

  • I am pretty sure I have never had Ben & Jerry's. I've never liked ice cream that much and became lactose intolerant a few years ago. Being pregnant, I am finding that I can tolerate more dairy again and I've actually enjoyed eating ice cream with DH 2 or 3 times.

  • I haven't had Ben and Jerry's for years! We don't buy ice cream often but when we do it is usually Umpqua which is a dairy in southern Oregon. But even then it lasts us quite a while. If they sold my favorite (pralines and cream) in stores I would buy it all the time. They do have it at an ice cream shop down in our port and it's amazing!!

Wtf??!! Pralines 'n cream isn't a reg flavor up there? Oh girl, I am so sorry!! I'm virtually sending you ALLLLL the Pralines 'n cream! Tell those PNW peeps to get with it! ;)

  • I generally take about a week... I'll have a few spoonfuls at a time until it's gone. My DH on the other hand sees them as single serving containers. So, they don't last long in our house.

This! Or I will feel bad I ate so much and stop with hardly anything left. Then forget about it in the freezer until it's all freezer burned :(

  • I usually can make it last 3 days. However, the last time I had a pint (a week ago), it lasted 3 days only by extreme restraint.

  • I don't understand all of these votes for anything higher than 1 day? Wut?

I rarely allow myself to buy a pint of Ben & Jerry's because I definitely eat it as one serving. Other ice creams I can make last much longer, but not B&Js!

  • So, I'm not really sure what happens. I sit down with a pint with the intention of eating 1 serving...next thing you know, half the pint is gone. Then I figure a few more spoonfuls won't hurt...then there's only 2-3 spoonfuls left in the pint and then what's the point of NOT finishing it?

I'm not a complete slob...this happened more before I went on my diet a few years ago. I can count on one hand how many times this has happened in the past 2 years. But still...every. damn. time.

  • Did you know that Cherry Garcia (and I think Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough) are available in quart size? I have gotten the quarts of Cherry Garcia at Safeway stores in the northern Virginia area. That one does definitely take me a couple of days to polish off.

prior to this pregnancy, my answer would totally have been 1 day or less. every time. now that i am pregnant, i don't want sweets at all. like not even brownies. so i have gotten a couple of pints, and generally they are about 5 servings each now. it is actually bizarre to me while i am eating it.

    ETA: missed some words.
