Just curious as to when you ladies packed your go-bag for the hospital. It's still on my list of things to do....

Re: When did you pack your go-bag?

  • I picked 36 bc I plan in doing it the end of this week. I am a RCS but my Dr is letting me go until the day before my due date. I am suppose to get my butt straight to the hosptial at any signs of labor before hand. Our hospital is also an hour away and we have 2 kids already - need to getting butt in gear.

  • Mine has been packed for a couple of weeks already.  I'm very type A and need my "stuff" to be in order :)

  • I'm trying to figure out where my nursing bra and tank are, but won't have a bag ready until I'm leaving for the hospital.

  • I wrote a list of things I needed and kept it on my dresser. When my water broke at 39 weeks, 5 days, I just gathered up everything and went to the hospital. I did have a baby bag all packed and ready, but I honestly don't know why you would need a bag packed for you before hand. My water broke and we had to leave pretty quickly, but I had 20 mins to put it all together and I didn't feel panicked/rushed at all. Anyone care to enlighten me on a situation where you would have to leave immediately and not have 20 mins to put together a bag?

For me personally, it wasn't about "not being able" to pack a bag at the last second, it was not wanting to have to worry about it at that time.  I'd rather know that I have everything I need in order and ready to go that I can just toss in the car and go.  Plus, didn't want to have to ask people to bring me the things that I would likely forget, especially things like the camera/charger, etc.  I mean, of course I could run around like a chicken without a head when my water broke and try to remember everything, but why would I want to when I had 40 weeks to prepare myself.  I'm a RCS this time and my bag is still packed and ready to go.  I just don't care for leaving things to the last second.

  • I voted for 36 weeks. That's when I packed with DS and plan to with this one. Technically I have started packing but that's b/c I had to buy a few things - travel size toiletries, nursing bras/tanks - so I threw them in the bag already. But I will probably really pack it the first weekend of May.

  • @fatbarbie0226‌ , for me as pp have stated it isn't so much as being unable to do it it is more about having everything on hand and being organized. For example I wanted certain yoga pants and other clothes so I washed those and packed them. No reason baby stuff can't be in the bag and I have a spare charger so I put it in. I do however have a post it on top of bag with list of last minute stuff like that needs to be added that I am still using like my glasses. Also another situation could arise like what almost happened to me last Friday, I went to a prenatel appt. and they sent me directly to L&D with talk of induction if my blood pressure didn't stabilize, I got sent home this time but DH would have been the one to grab my bag from home had they kept me, I don't trust him to pack my bag correctly under pressure;)
  • I picked 36 weeks. My water broke with my first baby at 38 weeks and we didn't have anything packed because I had been on bedrest for so long and my hubby was deployed until the week before delivery. we scrambled to pull everything together. And knowing how fast that labor and delivery went (4 hours start to finish) I don't want to mess around this time!! And wouldn't ya know...he's on military order aggggaaaain for this pregnancy. Supposed to be coming home the day. After I turn 38 weeks. So yea.....definitely want to be sure our bag is packed as well as my DS1's bag for his grandmas

I felt like I had to poop my entire early labor and spent the entire time going back and forth from bed to the toilet. I was extremely uncomfortable. I suppose I could have still packed, but it was much easier not to have to worry about it. I still had to grab a few things, like glasses and my phone charger, but I found it easier to have a travel thing of toiletries, some yoga pants, and nursing tanks in my bag and ready to go. When I pack last minute for anything, I always forget something important, even with a list.

  • I picked 36 weeks, I started it at 34 weeks but it's an ongoing project as I think of more things I need to pack. It was mostly ready last week (35), like, if we had to go tonight I could throw a few things in there and go, but my goal is to have it ready, and off my mind by the end of this week (36).

  • I packed my bag when my water broke in the middle of the night at 39 weeks 2 days. I will be more prepared this time now that I have a little one to bring to Grandmas :)
  • Yeah I guess because I had a list it didn't seem like I was running around like a chicken with her head cut off. I did have a few things packed, and a bag ready for baby, so that was good. But most of my stuff was still needed up until I went into labor.

I didn't think about getting sent straight from an appointment to L&D. And I should probably be more prepared since I have a toddler now too. Add another thing to my to-do list! Can you make a list about making lists?? Lol.

  • I'm going to finish mine tonight. I'm not planning on rushing to L&D when/if my water breaks, but it will allow me some time then to make sure my dog is taken care of and we have things all set at the house. I am a huge procrastinator so getting this done this early is a feat for me.
  • I have a pile started but most of the stuff I use every day. Won't pack until I'm in labor or the night before my RCS.

  • I have started gathering things. And by things I mean I have pulled one thing out. The actual bag. I would like to have it done about a month out, which is the week after Easter.

  • I've been all packed since getting sent to L&D right from and appointment 2 weeks ago which was about 34.5weeks. Luckily I was sent home but before my next appointment my bags were fully packed and everything has been ready and waiting since! I feel better that way knowing it's ready and my husband won't have to scramble trying to find what I need. I guess it's just personal preference but it never hurts to be ready!

The plan is by 37 weeks so I have two more weeks. So far nursing tanks and a bra have made it in. I do have a list on my iPhone though so if it comes to it I can rattle off things to DH or send it to him if I need to.

  • I bought a diaper bag at Christmas... And I set the boppy next to it. And I have baby's going home outfit in it (ok well 3 bc who knows what will fit). That's the extent of my packing.
  • I have my essentials packed: (1) Main bag with robe, undergarments, nightgowns, toiletries, etc. (2) Small bag for stem cell collection kit (3) Empty bag at my bedside for pillows and chargers. Not 100% there, but can pack the rest easily and quickly.

When it was time to go with DD. I am doing the same with this one.. I make a list of what I need, and then can pack it all quickly when it's time. Or DH could pack it in an emergency situation. We only live 5 minutes from the hospital too, so DH can always go back to the house for anything we forgot.

I also made a list for DD's bag.. she'll be going to my mom and dad's. They live right on the way to the hospital.

I guess I -did- pack a bag for the dogs. I scooped out some kibble and their leashes, so they are ready to go.. :P

  • With DS1 I had an induction scheduled for 38wk3days so I packed a bag at 37 just in case. Then I had a list of things I needed out so I could grab them the night before.

Since I showed up for my induction at 4.5cm I am going pack my bag at 36 weeks this time. My doctor has said that if I show up for an appt at 3.5 or 4cm even without regular contrax he won't let me go home. We live 30 mins away and labor with ds1 was 3 hours total.

  • I'm 34 weeks and will start putting things together this week since I'm on vacation.
  • I picked 37 weeks, because that is my goal to have it done by this weekend. Ideally, I would have liked to have most everything packed at 35 weeks so I wouldn't have to worry about it, but that didn't happen...

  • Mine is probably 75% ready. I'm waiting for a couple of comfy nursing bras to come in, and I need to make some nursing camis. I'm still wearing the comfy leggings I plan to bring, so hopefully they'll be close by when it's go-time.

  • I'll be 38 weeks on Friday....haven't even pulled the bag out of the closet. With my crazy BP, I really should be more prepared.
  • All that's in my "go bag" is a couple of baby outfits and blankets for hospital pics. I tried to do it over the weekend, but couldn't decide what clothes to pack, as I have so few that still fit anyways.

  • I meant to start getting it together after 30 weeks. Almost 34 and so far, I've got the bag and I've got a new pair of flip flops in it. Progress!
Basically, this is me.  I picked a bag to put stuff in, and off and on I think about what to put in there.  I'm counting that as progress.  For actual physical progress, so far it has the travel-sized versions of my soap and shampoo that I brought along when I had Benjamin, and a new pack of toothbrushes since we somehow left those behind last time.
  • We just loaded our bags in the car this evening. I'll be 35 weeks tomorrow. All signs are pointing to an early delivery and it just makes me a lot more comfortable having things ready to go. Especially if they send me to L&D from an appointment, because we live 50 minutes from the doctor and the hospital. We'll have a couple of last minute things to grab but I feel better having 99% of it done and ready. Plus I don't trust DH to pack stuff for me either. ;)

This is pretty much me. I have most of my clothing in there, but not much of anything else. 36 weeks on Thursday...I had better get cracking!

  • I have everything ready to go except for just a couple of things that haven't arrived and of course the things that I can't pack until it's time to go. I know exactly what I want to wear at the hospital, so it's clean and packed. The list of items not in there are in my fridge.

The baby bag is also packed except for the baby formula that hasn't yet arrived. I am being extremely picky, If bottles are going to be used I want them to be the ones I bought. I want the pacifiers to be the ones I bought. I have done a lot of research about breast feeding and the effect bottles and pacifiers can have on it. I tried to buy the highest rated items that are as breast feeding friendly as possible. Will I very likely going to be looked at like I'm crazy? Probably!

  • So far this is what I have 1.most toiletries 2. Everything for baby 3.flip flops and slippers. I would like to have it finished by 36 weeks.

    It's a BOY
