I am early in the pregnancy- don't even know the sex yet! We have our top girl names picked out. Just wanted some honest feedback on these faves...Middle name will most likely be Kathleen (family name) but I also like Grace with some of these.
Cara- boring Avery- no boys name Nora- ok but prefer as NN for Eleanor Hadley- ok but bordering on trendy Ella- see Nora Ryleigh- too bad for words Cate- like as a NN for Catherine Addison- so terribly trendy
Of your list, the best is Nora with Cara (Car-a not Care-a) very close behind. The worst is Hadley....I just don't get the appeal here.
I would like to suggest Cora , Avalon, Nina, Hailey, Elsa, Rosalie, Katherine and Adelaide
Wow, you ladies are MEAN!!! I know 2 year old girls named Avery, Riley and Hadley, the names are cute. And why would you even suggest other names?? Obvs, these names on the list are ones she likes. Get over yourselves.
If Kathleeen's a family name, and you like Cate, why not Kathleen as a fn with a nn of Kate? Or if you really prefer the C, Cathleen as the fn with a nn of Kate? (Full disclosure: I have a Kathleen with nn Kate.)
But out of your list, I like Nora Kathleen the best. It's beautiful.
So I like Cate because our last name begins with C... I grew up an RR, so I just love the two same initials thing. If we did Cate, we would obvs nix Kathleen. That one is just a random one I threw on there, I'm not totally sure about it, just liked how it looked with a C.

Wow @SunnyHuny - do you have reading comprehension issues? She asked for OPINIONS on the names on her list. Then she said suggestions are welcome. Geez you are dumb.
Ryleigh - God no. Enough with the badly misspelled names. And Riley on a girl sounds ugly.
Cate - Okay, but a little plain
Addison - Noooooo. I automatically think of Addison's Disease, which my grandmother suffered from, and which almost killed her on more than one ocassion.
I'll forgive you for the "barf" comment for being the only one to like Cara. >-
Oh right, my reading comprehension sucks, that's why I was an English major. It's one thing to say, "that name isn't my style" or something to that effect but to say I hate that name or it sucks is just mean, plain and simple.

I have a comment unrelated to the above correspondence.
DH has informed me he "LOVES" Amelia. And Stella. And Caroline. So there's that. Time to update the list!!
Yay!! I'm glad I could help bring in some fresh names to consider that you guys now love! ;;)
Cara - Nms Avery - I love this name...for a boy Nora - Beautiful! Love this name Hadley - Nms Ella - Nms, I think it makes a better nickname Ryleigh - Meh, not a favorable spelling Cate - Classic, prefer Catherine Addison - Nms
Absolutely love Stella! Stella and Nora are my favorite from your choices.
Another update: found out DH loves Stella because it's a Grateful Dead song. SMH...
Questions on Stella:
Does it remind you of a 45 year old?
Does it remind you of "How Stella Got Her Groove Back?"
I honestly would have never remembered "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" if you didn't mention it. But I've also never seen it, so it has no effect on me. The only Stella I know is three.
Huh, I wondered why this thread had so many responses... [[shakes head a random white knight]]
OP -- I love your additions of Stella, Amelia, and Caroline much more than your original list! Stella does not make me think of an old lady, and I think the Grateful Dead thing is cute. I think it's sort of a vintage name that's being used on little girls again, and it's adorable. But really, my vote is you keep these 3 names at the top Also, props to you for handling the feedback with grace.
Congrats on your girl. Since this thread is so long and has lots of names on it I might suggest starting a new one with a poll. For the record I prefer Cara over Lila ( but like Caroline most of all).

My feelings exactly.
Avery...will get little to no love from this board. I'm undecided on how I feel about it. I prefer it with Kathleen
Nora...eh.
Hadley...love
Ella...eh
Ryleigh...of all the you-neek spellings out there, I dont mind the -leigh endings so much, but it does look a tad juvenile.
Cate...love this spelling
Addison...not bad but trendy
Can I suggest Maren, Daphne, or Tessa?
But out of your list, I like Nora Kathleen the best. It's beautiful.
Sigh.
