Northside Hospital

Anybody deliver there and just love it? Or hate it? I would love some feedback. Thanks y'all.

Re: Northside Hospital

  • I delivered there and had a great experience.

  • Thank you so much for telling me that @ziggy903. Your son looks like a little doll in his picture. :) I looked up the maternity ward and from what I can tell it looks kind of like a nice hotel.

  • I technically wasn't in the maternity ward(I was in high risk perinatal for 2 weeks, had a c/s, and DS was in the NICU) but never encountered a doctor or nurse who wasn't nice and willing to help me with anything. I've heard only great things about their L&D!

  • Oh that makes me feel good. I love when the staff is helpful.
  • I delivered there for DS and will be there again for this LO. We actually have about 4 hospitals that are closer but chose that one because of their reputation (and it wasn't that much further than the others, but still further away). I ended up with an unplanned c-section and felt like it was all handled really well and they were great with my recovery and with DS. I only encountered 2 people I didn't care for. One was one of the evening nurses, but luckily I on,y had to deal with her once or twice. The other was an LC, but I had a different one visit me the following day who was a lot better. The takeaway I got from that is if you aren't happy with someone you see, it is ok to ask for someone else.
  • Thank you for your input, @jnnfrrose6. I'm the same way, if I don't like a nurse or LC, I will say, "next" lol.
  • I delivered there two weeks ago. Great experience. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff all around!!

  • They were awesome. DD2 was in the NICU there before being transported to CHOA at Egleston. DD2 received amazing care, and so did I.

  • Thanks Y'all. You all are making me feel good about this. lol
  • I had both of babys there staff was great and nice and having my third there to.
  • I know this isn't the same, but in January my DH's granddad was admitted to the Cancer wing at Northside. They were wonderful. Everyone we ever talked to was just as nice as they could be, went out of their way to help his granddad and our family. If even a quarter of that stems into the delivery room, you'll have a great experience!

  • I delivered there on the 19th. They were all amazing and I can't say a single negative thing about my experience.

Was there beginning of last year for a kidney failure. I received excellent care.
I'm having a scheduled c section and it'll definitely be done there. I've always heard great things from others too
  • Another question about Northside if anyone has any input:

I have yet to put together our birthing plan (have only been in once to the doctor's office for the CP visit), but it is a group that delivers at Northside which I am fine with - logistically the hospital is a good location for us and I liked the doctors office (much better than my regular gyno!) so, so far, I'm happy.

My question is, will they honor my wishes to do a natural birth?  That is my plan (for now), but I've heard Northside is VERY "hospital-y" opting for epidurals and C-sections left and right.

My SIL had her 3 babies there naturally. She had a different OB for each pregnancy. My MIL who was her support person said they had no problems with the staff whatsoever.

I'm a FTM and plan to have a natural birth at Northside, based on my SIL's experience. It's where my OB's practice delivers and I've been happy with the doctors there so far. So I'm hoping for the best.

I did also take Northside's childbirth class and the instructor was excellent. The class content was totally unbiased as far as I could tell. Of the 9 expectant moms who attended, 6 were already decided on getting an epidural. So that's why for now I'm not super worried about Northside having a high epidural rate.
  • Northside is the best! We had a wonderful experience. I couldn't have asked for better!
  • My OB-GYN only delivers at Northside.  I've had friends deliver there and I'm excited about it!

I have had 2 med-free deliveries at Northside. Both were great experiences and never once was I pressured for an epidural or unnecessary interventions.
