Should I be worried?

My son (almost 6/ASD) has been doing this odd behavior for the past few days. He's pretty laid back and attached to my hip.
Lately he's being having a lot of odd meltdowns. For no reason he goes from being completely calm to hysteria. He's been distant from me especially at bed time when normally he wants to sleep glued next to me.
The part that is concerning me the most is at night. When he's about to fall asleep, eyes droopy and almost closing he suddenly wakes up and gets super tense and start to stim by scratching his mouth and face, very hard. I try to clam him down but he's not able to for a few minutes. Then he's back to normal.

I'm calling him neurologist on Monday.

Has anyone experienced this?

His twin brother is monitored for seasures, he had a gran mal once and sufferes from absence seizures.

TIA!
