Swing Question from FTM on 0-3 board

Hi!
I have a quick question that maybe some of you more experienced moms might be able to chime in on.

I have a Mamaroo swing and my MIL just got the Snugapuppy swing for my DS. He seemed to like her swing so much more. I'm trying to decide if it worth selling mine and getting one of the snuga-animal swings.

So finally my question, how long did your LO use their swing???

Thank you for any input :)

Re: Swing Question from FTM on 0-3 board

  • I know this is unusual, but my almost 11 month old is still using his swing. (We have the SnugaBunny.) His feet hang off the edge some and he is getting close to the weight limit, but he still naps in it. I'm going to be transitioning him to the crib for naps very soon!

My DD used it for 3 months for all naps and DS used if for 5 months for all his naps. Edit: we have the snuggabunny

  • Only a  handful of times. I think it depends on the baby and is hard to predict how long they will like something.

  • We have the snuggamonkey. I stopped putting him in it at 6 months.

Same here. My DD still naps in it for her morning nap. She'll be 11 months on the 17th, but she's still a peanut since she was a preemie. Some babies will use a swing till they get too heavy for it. Just depends on the baby. I do wish she'd nap in her crib, though!

  • Thanks ladies! I think I'm gonna try to hold off. I'm sure spending the $100+ on a excersaucer and other things makes more sense.
  • We used snugabunny seeing for about 6 months. It was all LO would sleep in the first week. WORTH EVERY PENNY!

LO is 10.5 months now and we never used an exersaucer or anything like it.

  • 4 months. The Excersaucer was an excellent investment!! I bought used though. Now that he's mobile, it's a safe place I can put him to play when I need to pee or turn my back for a moment.

  • I'm not sure how close you are with your mil. But my mom watches ds 1 day a week and some toys he likes a lot she'll send home and well have other things for her house. So maybe you could switch swings? Unless he's there a lot during daytime hours. Then it's probably not worth it.

  • DS would never sit in swing for more than 10 minutes tops, everyone kept telling me it was "the answer" to getting him to nap and quiet down but it never worked for him. It totally depends on the kid, now the exersaucer on the other hand has paid for itself, we've been using it for months..

  • DH still will use the swing to get LO to nap if he's really fighting a nap.  LO still has about 5lbs to go to reach the weight limit, so it definitely lasts!

  • He liked it until he was about 8 months.
  • I second borrowing/ buying a used exersaucer. My dd hates to be restrained, even before she could crawl. We tried the jumping saucer, but it was a no go. Happily packed it back up for my SIL.
