Today I went to a few different stores looking for a new bra, because once again my boobs have grown. Anyways I am wondering if any of you ladies have been able to find a place that will measure you in store for a maternity/nursing bra? Maybe a department store? I am lost and my poor boobs can't hold up in this bra much longer..
Totally didn't realize this thread was on here and ressurrected an old one...so here's my question:
Definitely spilling out of my bra now...so my question is do I go with a regular bra or a nursing bra? I know @ncbelle said (on a diff. thread) they will likely grow more once my milk is in, so I'm thinking a regular bra and then go shopping again once I have baby?
Thanks everyone! I plan on going by Motherhood today since they are having a buy one get one free sale. I would try to wait it out until my milk comes in, but I am miserable! Hopefully I can find something that fits me properly. I was a B cup before I got pregnant and now I am probably a DD!
I think it depends on the size of your chest. I couldn't find anything in motherhood maternity. I went to Nordstroms. I didn't buy nursing bras until after baby was here. My boobs grew pretty drastically once my milk came in. I think I went up 2 full cup sizes...so I was glad I waited!
I'm holding our on Nordstrom until I buy the nursing bras. However, I did use another department store (Macy's) to buy a few bras to hold me over. I've always been a DD, so I'm hesitant of going just anywhere to buy bras.
If possible, go during the day. Generally, the full-time sales ladies are a little more knowledgeable and get a better fit.
I just bought two really cheap bras ($5 each) at Ross. They actually aren't that bad, but since they'll be 'temporary', I didn't want to spend a ton. I'll probably wait until my milk comes in to invest in a good nursing bra or two.
I just picked up a few from Motherhood in FL. They had buy 3, get one free. I know they'll get bigger, but I couldn't find my size anywhere else that offered bras at a reasonable price.
Can't wait to see what size I'll be when my milk comes in...
I'm still wearing my bras with these extenders. It seems like I'll grow a couple times and don't want to have new bras that only fit for a month or two.
I had a hard time finding a bra that fit becuase I am a 38 F now what the heck!?!?!?! I had trouble at Motherhood maternity becuase the band size and cup size do not go together, but found a lot of help and pretty good bras at reasonable prices at Lane Bryant, so I would check that out if you are having a hard time, the are not nursing bras but they are doing the trick since I am only 4 months at this point.
I'm a 34DD, so I'm dreading finding maternity/nursing bras. I haven't had to do so yet, but I'm definitely wearing my bras in the last hook and having to adjust them constantly. Every article I read that says your boobs getting bigger during pregnancy is so irritating.
Just a head's up, if you are larger than an F cup (from an actual professional measurement) than don't bother with motherhood or destination maternity. Even their XXL bras max out at a true DD/DDD. I'm finding I have to go online.
Nordstroms if you have one...although I'd wait on a nursing bra...my boobs drastically changed when my milk came in. I think I went up two cup sizes. I bought one nursing bra when I was 38 wks and used it for maybe a week. It was a complete waste of $
STM here who is still nursing her 2-year-old (and praying her boobs don't get much bigger!): Hot Milk nursing bras are awesome - comfortable, supportive with no underwire, and available in LOTS of sizes (like 32B-32H as well as 42C-42H). I've also used Bravado (comfort is okay, the cup shape was too pointy for my liking, matronly looking) and Cake (comfortable but not super supportive, good fit and easy to nurse in, and really pretty). I tried bras from Motherhood Maternity and from department stores but I never found a comfortable one I liked.
Amazon carries a lot of the Hot Milk varieties but Cake (at least the pretty ones) are hard to come by on amazon. A British site called brastop.com has fabulous sale prices on the Cake ones, so it's usually worth the extra shipping.
When nursing I think I was up to a 36H..Nordstroms carried that size.
Brandwise..I hated Bravado..they gave me the worst uni boob. I wore underwire nursing bras with no issue..no clogged ducts etc. Anita underwire was one of my favorites and made me feel supported and normal even though my boobs were huge
@kimbercash79, which nursing bras did you get at Soma? I've been debating getting them (I love their non-nursing ones, specifically the vanishing backs). They currently have the nursing ones 2/$59 plus an additional 50% off of one (must buy two). The 50% offer is today only.
The absolute BEST place to get a nursing bra is at https://you-lingerie.com/ !! It was founded by a Mom who had this same struggle and wanted something cute AND functional. I love my bra and plan to purchase another soon. I haven't had baby yet, but will let you know how it works! They have an easy and accurate sizing guide online so you can be sure to find out what size you are before ordering. I love it and when I got my bra in the mail there was even a hand written note from the founder. VERY great experience!! I hope this helps you fellow Mommas out there!!
oi, I'm a DDD now. And still 34 around. My husband commented that my proportions are usually reserved for anime characters. :P Soma looks like a good bet, thanks @kimbercash79 .
Soma's nursing bras only go up to a DDD and are based off of their Embraceable collection. They have lined and unlined with a wire and finally brought out the lined wirefree in nursing as well. I work there and would love to get some of the nursing bras but I'm barely within the size range and will be too large by the time I finish this pregnancy. For now with the adjusting sizes making all my bras uncomfortable I'll be in Soma's Bralette because even at a 34G I have room to grow in the small. When I need nursing bras after my daughter gets here I'll be going to Petticoat Fair (specialty shop in Austin).
You made my day by posting this website!! I've been trying to find pretty maternity bras in large sizes that are not grandma bras!!! I'm a ddd in my first trimester. I haven't found anything that didn't give my boobs that weird cone shape!!! I was so happy when I saw these bras! I ordered two for now, can't wait to get them!! And they actually aren't expensive. Cheaper than the ugly ones! Lol Thank you so much for sharing!!
My friend is a bra specialist for an expensive bra company and she suggests not getting sized for nursing bras until you're about 2-4 weeks from due date. She's going to size me then and I will probably end up getting bras from Nordstrom since they seem to be the only ones with my giant size and I will definitely need quality bras to last and support
My favorite bras are the Gilligan and o'mally nursing bras from target. They have with and without underwire, sleep bras, and camisoles for a reasonable price (actually got a bra on sale for FIVE DOLLARS last month!) I will be buying a couple of bras in a week or so in a cup size up to pack in my hospital bag and a sleep bra. Leave the tags on, you can return it if you don't grow into them. While pregnant I only buy nursing bras as I need new bras so that I will have varying sizes for breastfeeding. When my milk first came in I upgraded to DD, after it leveled out I went back to a D, then as LO consumed less milk and more food I made it back to a C. Because I bought all nursing bras while pregnant I had all of these sizes in stock as I needed them.
I just spent an hour and a half naked with a total stranger. In a dressing room at nordstroms. Nothing. Fit. I am apparently a "6D" or a "DDDDDD". The internet it is I suppose. Can't wait till my milk comes in fml.
