So, as some of you know, I took the bar last July.

For those who have not experienced preparing and taking a Bar exam, I can best describe it as a mix of

and

and

Luckily, I passed.

Which earned me the well-earned ability to say this about taking a Bar Exam again:

Butttttt....

That would be incorrect. Because two months after taking the Bar, we moved. To another state. Which means, another Bar Exam.

So, I began to mentally prepare for Bar 2.

I completed my application. Submitted fees. Completed my Character and Fitness application. Submitted fees. Again

And started working at re-memorizing everything again.

And realized that my brain did not want to cooperate.

I seemed to have developed a great dislike for my Barbri books.

But I made myself do practice questions and practice essays. My confidence went back and forth.

As the Bar got closer, I compared my progress to where I was at a week before the Bar in July.
It did not improve my confidence.

I got a little discouraged but developed a plan on what I would do

So I Googled pass rates for February Bar takers.

It was bad.

I prioritized what to do and before I knew it, it was the day before the Bar and time to - get called into a mandatory meeting at work. Yep. Day before the Bar. They nicely let me leave an hour later.

The Bar was administered in a convention room at an Embassy Suites. When I sat down, this is the first thing I thought:

Not because I could not concentrate, but, because, well, there were loud noises coming from the room next to where the exam was being given. Clapping. Olympic theme music . . .

But I studied with background noise, so I was ready.

Day 1 was essays.
Any day that involves essays on secured transactions, commercial paper, corporations, agency, family law, state and fed civil procedure, sales, remedies plus all of the MBE topics is an awesome day. Especially when they are combined together in the most bizarre little essays you have ever seen.

But, I stayed on pace, and answered all of the questions.

and only a couple sub-questions made me stop and stare at my computer screen.

Because, seriously, the court system here is weird.

And at the end of Day 1 I was able to do this:

Day 2 is the MBE - multiple choice day. 100 in the morning and 100 in the afternoon.

The biggest thing to remember about Bar examiners when you read multiple choice questions is that they are tricksy.

When the instructions are to look for the
most correct answer you know they are planning on messing with your head. Don't trust them!

The hardest part about today? Not telling the person next to me that she forgot to fill in the bubble for question 199.

Like seriously! It was blank! I could see it was blank as I was watching the clock tick down - she had a minute left! Fill in a bubble! Any bubble! You have a 25% chance of being correct if you guess but 100% chance of being wrong if you do nothing!

But, and this is the important part

And DH and I have already discussed what will happen if he is offered a job in another state
