Cord blood banking/donating question

Hello fellow mommas,

How did you decide whether to or not to have LO's cord blood banked ? If not banking , are you donating ? Thanks.

I would love to donate, but apparently they don't take it from twins because of the possibility of mix ups. We can't afford to bank, so since I'm delivering at a university hospital I'm going to see if I can donate it for research. I can't stand the thought of it just being thrown away.
