I can't believe our LO's 2nd birthday is just around the corner. Have any if you started thinking about their party? Just curious as to what theme and party ideas you all have. My daughter has suddenly fallen in love with the movie Rio so I thought it would be fun to have a Rio de Janeiro, carnival theme. It is very colorful and it seemed fun.
We are doing Elmo too! Addy LOVES Elmo. Our party (although its super small) is this afternoon since Addy's birthday is next Thursday. I tried making my own Elmo cupcakes but it was a big fail because I couldn't get the icing red enough. If I had planned further in advance I could've gotten the right product to make it work.
We're doing a Very Hungry Caterpillar themed party on 2/15 (Nora's birthday). I've made up signs for the food and a 'Happy Birthday Nora' polka dot banner. We're just doing a 2-4 PM party so we don't have to do a full meal. Snacks based on the book will be nice and easy.

Oh no! Did you not have enough food coloring for it @vballgirl78? Any advice? We are making them on Friday for his party on Saturday!
@suitern- You apparently need to buy a specific kind of red food coloring (its a specific brand that comes in powder form I think- Wilton? I think). Google it... I saw all kinds of info about the brand people recommended. Unfortunately, I was iced in last night and our party is today, so I didn't have time to go find the stuff. I think they also recommend letting it sit over night, so plan to make it in advance. Silly me... I just thought I could add lots of red food coloring to white frosting (apparently I don't bake enough- it just came out pink). Good luck! I was so sad. I had found the cutest elmo cupcakes online that I was going to make. Now we just have store bought Elmo decorations stuck on top. Oh well!
We aren't doing a party. Just dinner with my parents (DH's family is not local). I have attitude about kids' birthday parties though so I'm not a good person to ask!
@vballgirl78, I went to Michaels today and found some of the Wilton's dye! I am planning on making both the cupcakes and frosting on Thursday evening and then decorating on Friday so they have time to cool. I hope they turn out becasue I don't have a back up ha ha. We may just have pink cupcakes then, which DH would DIE ha ha.
We have too much going on right now to even think about a birthday party. I'm just going to bake a birthday cake and make dinner for our little family. We moved away from all our family recently so they wouldn't be able to come to a party anyways.
We going to have close friends over for dinner. Our family is to local and I'm due with LO #2 four days before DS birthday. So it will be simple and low key...I went much bigger for birthday number 1.
We're in the middle of moving so we're having DD's party at my mother's house. It's the day after my husband gets back from being out of town for 5 weeks, so it will be a good opportunity for him to see all the family too. We're have a "You are my sunshine" brunch. The invites were the chalkboard theme and I'm just going to get some pink, yellow, and white decorations. Keeping it simple. I'm having a brunch because I want to get it over with, and I know I love morning parties because it doesn't take up your entire day.
We are having a party at the Little Gym. It's smaller since the audience is just his peers. Still inviting 25 kids. We don't spend money on alot of things and my Mister has insisted our DS have a birthday party.
I love planning so I'm all set. Keeping a really tight budget cause Lord knows I can go overboard. We are doing Choo Choo Trains. My son loves to ride the rails!
