I'm close to 7 weeks and for the past 3-4 days I've had extreme nausea that lasts literally all day. I have tried ginger ale, ginger snaps, saltines, chewig gum, etc...and nothing is giving any relief. Literally every food smell makes me sick. I havent thrown up, but almost think I'd feel better if I did. I have Zofran that I've used in the past for nausea. I have been researching a little bit online, and have read that it is safe during pregnancy. I also talked with my family doctor today, and she also said it was safe. I just wanted to get some opinions...I'm still anxious about taking it. Does anyone take this? Should I just suck it up and deal?! I'm so torn.
I took it almost every day from weeks 6-12 for both my previous pregnancies, plus phenergren at night. Both of my kids are fine and perfectly healthy. (With my dd I was throwing up twice a day, constantly nauseous.)
Luckily my m/s hasn't been as bad this time, although I do have a prescription for zofran just in case.

My OB just prescribed Zofran to me, totally safe. If your doctor gave you the green light, let that magic little peppermint flavored pill dissolve and take your nausea with it ;-)
What are the other Rx options if your allergic to Zofran? Took it about 6 months ago for a bad stomach flu, ended up with random muscle spasms and roaming hives. Dr. told me I am never to take it again. I may be needing something soon.
My dr advised to take vitamin B6 three times a day, and half a unisom at night for symptom relief. I don't know that I'll take the unisom, trying the B6 though. I haven't had any vomiting yet, just nausea.

Diclegis is a newer drug (remake of an oldie), but you can buy its components over the counter. It's essentially the same as B6 (25-50mg) and Unisom (half a tablet). My doc prescribed Zofran, but told me to try the B6/Unisom combo first. Yesterday was the first day I took it, and it seemed to work really well for me. I had two helpings of dinner!
I am taking Diclegis and Reglan for severe nausea. The Diclegis works ok amd I can def tell the Reglan is much stronger as my relief is quicker. My OB said she wouldn't prescribe Zofran bc of new info out about it possibly causing cardiac defects? I know it's been talked about before on this board. I don't know why everyone isn't on the same page and some OB's are for it and others are against it.
Zofran works great however beware of the consipation side effect . Up your fiber and maybe add a stool softener. Trust me you do not want to trade one for the other. I learned the hard way!!!
Zofran or reglan. I used the zofran only when I needed to be 100% "on" for a work conference and, yes, take it with a stool softener plus lots of water. Reglan is a nice one for night nausea because drowsiness is a side effect.

I took the b6 unisom combo thr past two days and actually feel worse. I slept; however, when I did wake up I felt miserable. I just cant believe how much this is affecting me! I'm dreading gettint through work today. Maybe I need to call and ask for Zofran.

Ha, I just posted about this. I got an Rx for Zofran and it's been a lifesaver.
