UO Thanksgiving edition

It is Thursday, after all! My UO is I used to love going to black Friday at the mall. Haven't been for years though, I'm thinking my opinion might have changed. LOL

My UO probably isn't that unpopular but here it goes: I hate that we (Canadians) have a different Thanksgiving in October. I would love to share the day with my neighbours down in the south. Happy Thanksgiving (Lucky bums with your 4 day weekend)!!!

@katieharpiceland ha I found this fitting. My only thing is that they start Black Friday sales on thanksgiving Thursday now? I guess America is getting more impatient every year! :-/

I'm glad I have a small family so we don't have the huge holiday gatherings. So stressful! And more pie for me!

Can I post my non-Thanksgiving UO? It's been eating away at me for weeks and I keep forgetting to post it.

I HATE that bikes think they can "share the road" and it makes me angry to no end. Sorry, but bikes and cars are not equal. I almost killed a girl on a bike the other day because I couldn't see her and the car in front of me swerved last minute to avoid her. My car going 45 and you going 5 does not make an equal playing field. Sidewalks people! And when I say this, people whine that sidewalks are for walking. Well great. If I'm on a bike and crash into a walker, maybe someone has a broken arm. If I'm on a bike and crash with a car, I could be dead. How and why does this not make sense?!

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday ever. I love the food and the fact that there is nothing tied to it, UNTIL Black Friday took over! I hate it! It's ridiculous that it's starting on thanksgiving day, I feel bad for people tht have to work minimum wage on the best holiday because people "need" to go to the store to buy ridiculous unnecessary items. Shopping is fun an sale are great, but family time is more important.

And all the people that say they don't like cranberry sauce or mashes potatoes or green bean casserole, please send them this way, I will eat them all! Especially since January first I am altering my diet (not dieting, still eating) to be much much healthier in order to avoid a big weight gain third trimester and set up a healthy breast feeding diet.

I want to give this a "love it" so badly, but I can't because I love a good pecan pie. Two out of three ain't bad though.

This Thanksgiving is totally different for me. While I usually spend them dressed up with lots of relatives and way too much food, this year it's just my bf and I... IN OUR PJs with just enough food and dessert for us. At first I was sad that I'd be spending it this way but honestly. It's got to be the best because it's the least hectic and most comfortable.

I think I'm the one that has a the true UO and that is I'm THRILLED black friday sales are starting tonight. We've already eaten our dinner and now I'm pumped to go shopping without having to wake up at 3am to do it.

I love my fam and all... But my thanksgiving dinner with just me, the hubs, and the baby bump is my very fave ever. I cooked only stuff I wanted to eat (my stuffing doesn't look like vomit, and it is delicious and almost gone), and then we went to bed to snuggle and enjoy a turkey coma together. Drama, travel, and football free!

I asked my new BIL what he wanted me to bring for thanksgiving. Guess what he asked for? I think it must have showed on my face, because he immediately said, "but no worries if it's too much trouble!" I'm not worried about trouble, I'm just grossed out. But apparently it's a family tradition for him and he's new to the family so in throwing him a bone. At least he said they didn't use canned beans. I'm doing an Alton Brown recipe where everything is fresh and made from scratch. We'll see how this goes...

And I agree with pps - Thanksgiving at home with just your SO and baby bump is theeeeeeee best. We are playing Skyrim in our comfy pants while waiting for the turkey to finish. Couldn't ask for a better day.

I hate football on Thanksgiving.

I don't really like pro football any other time, but when you're enjoying food and quality family time, it's worse. Don't ruin it by sitting in front of a tv watching football! Booooo football!

Ok, I'm converted. Alton Brown's green bean casserole, with Smitten Kitchen tweaks and BiRL's ingredient subs is AMAZING. I think I may make this all if the year.

If it involves Alton Brown and doesn't involve cream of mushroom soup or French's onions, you're all good

@AcaAwkward It was actually really good! Need to do more green beans to mushroom sauce ratio, but definitely not the gross stuff my grandma use to make. I'm gonna make the sauce again without flour bc it tasted like the best cream of mushroom soup ever. I used three kinds of mushrooms and made pano onion strings from scratch. Alton knows his stuff.

My Thanksgiving UO is that I absolutely hate Black Friday! You couldn't pay me to be anywhere near a store today. I also think it's ridiculous that stores were open on Thanksgiving.
