Pregnant after a Loss

IBS

Ohmygosh, my stomach HURTS. I've been diagnosed with IBS for over half my life. I'd like to say I know my triggers, but as any fellow IBS suffers will attest, something could be a trigger today and my best friend tomorrow, and vice versa. I can deal with the constipation and diarrhea, but the stomach pain drives me NUTS. I had a lot of luck on low dose Prozac in the past, but came off of that when trying to conceive. Now that I'm pregnant, I stick to Tums, Sprite, crackers, and a lot of complaining.

Anyone else struggling with IBS? Or, any fellow suffers have any tips or tricks of things to try?

Ugh. I'm sorry you're struggling so much! I've never been diagnosed with IBS, but I've struggled with stomach issues for a long time. And being pregnant seems to bring them out. I live on Tums! I try and rest as much as possible when I have stomach pain. Hope you feel better soon!

You've gone through the whole elimination diet thing in the past?  (gluten, dairy, etc. etc.)

Anyway so sorry you're having to deal with that pain, now of all times.  Yuck.  I hope you feel better (or at least have fewer icky-feeling times) soon!

Sorry you are going through this much pain. I have IBS and the best thing that helped was my zolaft, the better my stress was controlled, the better the IBS was. So if you are off the meds, hope you are finding ways to cope with the stress. I am "lucky" cause my IBS causes no issues with going, I can go 2-3 times a day and with pregnancy, I have cut back to 1-2 times a day...but I get pain if i only go once...that is my version of constipation! LOL

I don't have IBS but I do have Crohn's Disease.  It really sucks because pregnancy alone seems to trigger a flare up for me.  I am on the paleo diet and it seems to have helped keep me from massive flare ups.  I still have diarrhea but it's not nearly as often.  I just make sure all my vegetables are well cooked.
I hope you start feeling better!

I cut carbonated drinks, and rough foods like salad, popcorn, etc. I would love to cut out greasy foods (bc I always get sick after) but I just can't :)

I've been dealing with IBS since I was a teenager and honestly swear by probiotics. I've tried a couple different medications to help and nothing was ever very successful. A doctor recommended probiotics when she prescribed me antibiotics bc as we know those can really tear your stomach up. Long story short I kept taking the probiotic and have been using it for the last 5 years or so. Makes a huge difference in controlling my symptoms. I used to go between constipation and diahrea constantly with stomach cramps and bloating but now I'm pretty regular and not in pain (pregnancy has aggravated constipation). I take culturelle, and can really tell a difference when I skip a few days.
Anyway, just an idea. Hope you feel better!!

I have IBS and colitis and am lactose intolerant. For me, pregnancy helps mylactose intolerance so I can actually have dairy and pregnancy makes me very constipated. So I would normally cut out greasy and dairy food items but now I try and eat them when I need to go. Sorry I realize this isn't coming out helpful! I would try to eat bland, non-greasy foods and try to exercise ( that always seemed to help my bowels pregnant or not!) Sorry my format is a mess*I am mobile!
