Re: **2IF Grad Check-in**

  • 1. How many weeks? 35. wow. hard to believe.

    2. Any updates? A/S? Etc? I feel huge. Back aches, so tired, hard to walk, hard to sleep. Plus I have a cold. :(

    3. How did you stay sane during your 2IF journey? Having a plan of what I was going to do each cycle helped. also I never tested until AF was due. I was afraid if I tested early and it was negative it would be a false negative so I just waited until AF was due.

    4. what one item will you get this time which you didn’t have last time? a better carrier. I had a Bjorn and hated it. This time Im getting Becco gemini

  • Hello,

I am 28 weeks this week! Hello 3 trimester! I have on ob tomorrow with a glucose test! I have an ultrasound Nov 19. I am feeling ok.

I did not do well with that, I have anxiety and found the waiting so hard. All the unknown. It was very hard. I guess try to remember it was all worth it.

I know it is silly, but I got one of these pillows you attach to the car seat handle to carry the car seat easier. It is so heavy I wanted to added support. I hope it is worth it and it helps.

    Good luck ladies!

  • 1. 31 weeks

    2. No updates. Just taking it easy until my appt next week

    3. I don't think I was sane. I was such an emotional wreck. But, the 2IF board helped tremendously.

    4. I have no idea! It's been so long since I've had baby items, so I'm actually just excited to start all over and experience the baby stage again. I'm excited to use everything!!

  • 1. How many weeks? Getting close to 14 weeks.

    2. Any updates? A/S? Etc? Nothing new. Have my ob appointment tomorrow. Still feeling nauseous on and off... hoping that will go away soon.

    3. How did you stay sane during your 2IF journey?  I would say for 90% of the time, I was not sane. I had a really hard time accepting that it was out of my control. I agree with @KKDRAGONFLY that having a plan helped calm some of my nerves, but I could never shake the fear of not knowing what would happen. Surprisingly, the last month we tried (via iui), I changed my attitude to more positive thinking. I started to see every "failure" or "negative" as step in the right direction - towards my baby and that I would never let go of the idea that my baby's soul was out there somewhere trying to reach me, too.

    4. what one item will you get this time which you didn’t have last time?  We had a monitor, but not a very good one. We didn't really even need/use it as our house was tiny and DD's room was only steps away from ours. Now that we're in a two story, I really want a video monitor. Any suggestions?

  • I'm 14 weeks, and so happy to be in the 2nd trimester.  Less worrying, less nausea, feeling more human.  It's so much more fun to be pregnant when you don't feel awful physically.  But I'm still thankful to have all the unpleasant symptoms since they help reassure me everything is good!

Honestly, I didn't find anything to help me stay sane.  The more I distanced myself, the better it was, but that was almost impossible to do.  I was a mess for a long time.

It's been 8 years since I was pregnant with DS, so I'm looking forward to some new purchases!  DH and I were looking at video monitors a couple of weeks ago, and I'm excited at how portable and advanced they are now.  I had a big old clunky one 8 years ago and it was AWESOME.  No more worrying about waking up the baby by opening the door to see if he's awake.  I could just spy on him to my heart's content!  When I woke up during the night, I could glance at the monitor and know he was sleeping and all was well.  I had a regular audio monitor at first but it didn't work right, so I exchanged it for the video version.  I literally used it until it broke, when DS was about 3 years old.  I loved it.  So although it's something I already had, the new versions are far fancier and I'm looking forward to getting one!  MJC, I don't have any recommendations since my original one broke (after a lot of use, in it's defense), and I can't remember the brand anyways.  Let me know if you hear great reviews on any of them.

    Me: 42. DH: 46.

    1st Pregnancy: MC, 11/19/00.

    2nd Pregnancy: DS born 04/10/06.

    3rd Pregnancy: CP, 03/11.

4th Pregnancy: MMC, D&C 11/30/11, Genetic testing revealed Trisomy 4.

5th Pregnancy: Ectopic, 2 doses of Methotrexate unsuccessful, surgery 4/10/12, right tube removed.

Tried Letrozole January 2013-July 2013 (including 2 IUIs), all BFN.  After 2 1/2 years of trying for child #2, decided to "give up" after July cycle, based on AMA.

August 16, 2013:  BFP our first month of "not trying!"  Still in shock.  Beta #1 (14dpo): 183.  Beta #2 (17dpo):  611.  Ultrasound 8/30/13: baby measured 6 weeks, 1 day, heart rate of 118 bpm!
Ultrasound 9/13/13:  8 weeks, heart rate of 176!
    Baby is due 4/26/14

  • 1. How many weeks? 27.5  and counting!

    2. Any updates? A/S? Etc? No more appointments until November, but everything seems to be going well. Baby girl is active all the time...forgot what that felt like.

    3. How did you stay sane during your 2IF journey? Like others I think it was very difficult, but became a little more bearable once we had a dx and a plan.

    4. what one item will you get this time which you didn’t have last time?  It has been almost 6 years for me so we had to purchase a bunch of new stuff, but nothing really that we didn't have last time. If anything I learned there are things we don't need and I won't buy again (i.e. a wipes warmer)

  • @MJC116 we got the Motorola Digital 3.5" Video Baby Monitor - MBP36 when DS #1 was 8 months old and have LOVED it! The only issue is battery life, but I ordered an extra charger for the living room so it hasn't been too big of an issue. I have been enjoying it with 2 kids so far too. We can make sure the toddler is in bed or the new baby crying isn't waking him up and of course checking on the new baby is good too. The color images are amazing, but I keep the boys rooms so dark during naps that it is always on night vision. I have had LONG chats at mommy play dates and most of my friends have switched to this monitor now too. GL!
Kimber-glad to see everything is nice and calm, keep those boys cooking!!
