Hi All,
My RE recently recomended I start taking a CoQ10 supplement along with DHEA to help with my egg quality. While I'm only 31 a blood rest came back with a somewhat mid to low AMH level. The ones she is recomending me are TheraNatal OvaVite it can be found on this site...http://www.theralogix.com

Has anyone else heard of this or is taking something like this?

Started seeing an RE August 2013
Me - 31, diagnosed with hypothyroidism and low AMH on Synthroid 75mg and NeoQ10 Suppliments
DH - 32, checked out just fine
Cycle #1: 9/13/13 - 100 mg clomid + trigger + b2b iui #1 + progesterone = BFN
Cycle #2: 10/13/13 - 5 mg Femara - waiting to trigger and iui #2

Re: CoQ10 Suppliments for egg quality

  • Thanks ladies! I have a Costco membership ill Check out the price there before ordering the online Suppliments. She didn't mention my DH needed to take then what are they supposed to do for him?

  • DH and I both took CoQ10 for this IVF cycle.  Did it help?  I have no idea, but this cycle we ended up with 5 decent quality embryos (Not stellar, but not terrible either) instead of the 3 poor quality embryos we had last cycle.

    @shcr

    I don't think there is any harm in the CoQ10.  I know my clinic is not big on DHEA as a supplement because it can increase your testosterone levels, which if your levels are already high can be problematic.  I know many clinics do recommend it though.  Let me see if I can find a link to the info on my clinic's website...

    @shcr I also had a change in medication protocol, so I can't contribute the difference in the cycles soley to CoQ10 supplements.

  • Sog warning.

    I took the ubiquinol form. It is supposed to be easier for your body to break down. Be careful with dhea. You need to have your levels monitored because it can be androgenic.
    IF DX: DOR & Fragile X pre-mutation carrier
    2011: FSH 13.3 & E 99; AMH 0.54 2nd FSH 6.2 E 40's AFC: 8
    BFP from Clomid/IUI ~ Pre-e and IUGR during pregnancy ~ DS born 9/4/12
    Feb./March 2013: AMH less than 0.16 (undectable) and AFC = 4;
    BFP from supps ~ DS#2 due May 2014

  • Im 28 with an undetectable AMH, so I'm on DHEA, CoQ10, and L-Arginine. DH is also on CoQ10, but I think as part of a blend. I've had DHEA and testosterone levels measured twice and adjusted my DHEA dosage after the first one.

    TTC #1 since June 2012
    Me (28) - DOR (AFC <10, undetectable AMH, >10 FSH), homozygous E429A MTHFR
    DH (29) - MFI low count and morphology

    September 2013 IUI#1 - Clomid + Trigger + IUI = BFN
    October 2013 IUI#2 - Letrozole + Menopur + Trigger + IUI = BFN

    Nov 2013 IVF/ICSI #1 - Protocol: BCP prep, high doses Menopur and Bravelle (12 days), ganirelex
    Results: 5 retrieved / mature, 4 fertilized, 1 arrested and 3 complex abnormal after day 3 PGS = Cancelled after ER

    Jan/Feb 2014 IVF/ICSI #2 - Protocol: Estrogen priming, high doses Menopur and Bravelle (11 days), microdose lupron
    Results: Cancelled after 11 days of stims due to low response and E2 levels

    Feb 2014 IVF/ICSI #3 - Protocol: No prep, low dose Menopur (6 days), ganirelex, Bravelle booster with trigger
    Results: 1 retrieved / 0 mature = Cancelled after ER

    Officially moving on to embryo adoption!
