First OB Visit - Should significant other come along?

I just recently found out that I am pregnant. I took 4 test over the course of 4 days because I'm paranoid like that and wanted to keep checking to make sure I didn't become "unpregnant." after we told our parents and siblings.  I know...I'm a little bit of a whacko. But anyway, my first OB appointment is scheduled for this week and my boyfriend really wants to come along. I'm 6 weeks (I think) and they've scheduled me for a confirming appointment. Is it appropriate for my boyfriend to join me for this appointment? I'm not really sure what all will happen at this appointment, so any advice would be helpful.

My husband joined me for my first ultrasound with our first baby.  I think it's completely appropriate for him to be there if you want him to be.  You don't see much at that first ultrasound, but it's still pretty cool.
