Hello soon to be mamas or mamas! My local babywearing group just did a segment on DIY and we had a part on how to make a Woven wrap Table cloth shorty. This is a great way to get an inexpensive carrier. I personally have one of these table cloth shorties and they are amazing! If you have any questions don't hesitate to PM me or comment below...
To make a Table cloth shorty, you need to make sure to have buy a 60 inch x 120 inch Jacquard woven table cloth. This will give you two shorties... 28inch width and 120 inch length which would give you a 3m woven wrap, which is considered a long size 2(2.6m) or short size 3(3.2m) The brand Mahogany has been gaining great reputation in the BWing community and is what I would recommend.
Now you have to be crafty. Cut the tablecloth in half and try to cut as straight as possible. You want each width of your shorty to be about 28 inches after hemming. Some like to tapper off the ends so that the knot is smaller, however if you do that you will lose length and it will be closer to a size 2. Roll the hem on each side and sew as straight as possible. Then you are done! You have two size 3m woven wraps! You can then sell one of them or give the other as a gift. Mahogany brand table cloth shorties sell for around $35 on the swap.
What can you do with a 3m wrap? You can do a no sew ring sling... or if you want to be even more crafty you can make one of the shorties into a ring sling!
